Maverick Roofing – Installation Day
The initial step is the signing of the contract. After an agreement has been reached, and shingle type and color selected, we place your project on the schedule board. The proper materials are ordered from our suppliers, and we prepare to tackle your roof.
Before we begin, we will have the required materials delivered to your property. We coordinate the delivery with our suppliers, and make sure that the materials are in stock and ready to be delivered.
You will see a large dumpster, dump truck or box trailer delivered to your property along with tarps sheathing, tools, and underlayment. We will place the dumpster, or box trailer, in a location convenient to the project requirements. It will remain there only as long as necessary to complete the project.
Our crew will arrive ready to work. After an analysis and walk around with the home owner of the area, our foreman and the crewmembers will begin putting tarps, buckets and sheathing around to protect your home and any other lawn and landscaping items. The next phase of the roofing process is the removal of the old roofing.
The removal of the existing roofing materials is the messiest phase of replacing your roof. If your roof is smaller, then we will probably remove all the existing material at one time. The amount of shingles taken off of a roof will look twice as large on the ground, making the area around the house look a bit messy. However, rest assured that all of that material will be cleaned up and removed.
The next step is assessing the roof deck and repairing any damaged or rotten wood. Please keep in mind that all shingle manufacturers require that the roof deck be solid and strong. We take care to ensure that all wood decks are in the proper condition to accept new roofing.
After we assess and repair any decking damage, we begin the vapor barrier installation. This is commonly referred to in the industry as ”blacking in” the roof. All areas of the roof will be covered with the vapor barrier and some areas may be covered with ice and water shield, as specified in your contract.
The next step is the actual installation of the new shingles. At this stage, you will be able to see the look of your new roof. During this, we also install any and all water proofing flashings, venting, and metal work. By now, our crew has been busy for several hours and is approaching the final step of the roofing process.
The final step is cleaning up the remaining mess. The crew will pick up all lose and remaining shingles, nails, etc. Most of the crew will be involved with this, while a few others may be finishing up the odds and ends of the shingling.
If necessary, your project may take more than one day. We often have projects that take several days. This may require us to waterproof areas of the exposed roof overnight. We use tarps, canvas, or other means to do this. It is our intent to protect your property from the elements. However, it is sometimes necessary for us to use temporary means to do so. Be confident that we are always watching the weather, and we are taking the proper steps to protect you and your valuables.
If necessary, or requested at contract signing, our crews will take extra steps to protect your property from falling debris. We use wood, tarps, and other means to shield areas from old, falling shingles. These may be a bit unsightly, but will help keep the old material from damaging your building.
Not only is roofing a messy undertaking, it can, at times, be quite loud. With up to 12 men working at one time, with pneumatic tools and equipment, it can become very loud on the site. This may start early in the morning, and often continues until the sun goes down. While not always pleasant, it is necessary for your roofing project to be successful.
Finally, we will remove any leftover material, and remove the dumpster or box trailer from your property. With your new roof overhead, you can now feel confident that your home will be kept warm and dry for many years to come.
